NinjaTrader VPS NinjaTrader VPS

NinjaTrader VPS —
two gigabytes per instance.

NinjaTrader is a .NET application with a charting engine behind it, and it holds roughly twice what a MetaTrader terminal does. Two gigabytes per instance is the figure we size on.

  • NinjaTrader 8 and .NET already installed
  • 42 cities — pick the one nearest your broker
  • Windows Server licence included

How much RAM do I need?

2 GB = 1
of memory instance

NinjaTrader is the heaviest thing we host. 4 GB runs two, 8 GB runs four — and a chart-heavy workspace wants more again.

The rule we use ourselves

Two gigabytes,
one instance.

Everywhere else on this site the rule is a gigabyte per terminal. NinjaTrader is the exception: it is a .NET application carrying a real charting engine, and it holds about twice what a MetaTrader terminal does. The rule doubles with it.

2 GB = 1

NinjaTrader holds about twice what MetaTrader does, so the rule doubles with it. Two instances wants four gigabytes, four wants eight.

Plan What the memory holds Terminals
2 GB Eco Pro win + 1 1 terminal
4 GB ULTRA VPS win + 1 NinjaTrader 2 terminals
6 GB PREMIUM VPS win + 1 NinjaTrader NinjaTrader 3 terminals
8 GB PROFESSIONAL win + 1 NinjaTrader NinjaTrader NinjaTrader 4 terminals
Two gigabytes per instance · a chart-heavy workspace wants more

The number of charts matters more here than on any other platform. A workspace with twenty charts and a few indicators on each will pass three gigabytes on its own — if that is your setup, tell us and we will size it properly rather than have you find out.

Four ways in

Which one holds
your terminals.

Straight from the rule. If it turns out wrong we move you up free of charge — you will not be asked to buy a second month to find out.

The High Frequency plan holds the same three as the Best. What you pay the difference for is clock speed — a Ryzen 9 at 5.7 GHz rather than an EPYC core — which matters for a scalping EA and not at all for a swing strategy.

Two different jobs

NinjaTrader or MetaTrader —
which one you actually need.

These are not competing products so much as tools for different markets. The choice is usually made by what you trade rather than by preference.

NinjaTrader

NinjaTrader

2 GB each

  • Built for futures, and the market data plumbing shows it
  • Charting and order-flow tools well beyond MetaTrader's
  • NinjaScript is C#, so real tooling and real debugging
  • Heavier, licensed per machine, and a smaller broker list
MetaTrader 5

MetaTrader 5

1 GB each

  • Lighter, so more instances on the same plan
  • Nearly every forex broker offers it
  • Handles futures, but as an addition rather than a focus
  • No licence to move when you change machines
The thing nobody warns you about

The licence is tied
to the machine.

Moving to a VPS uses one of your activations

NinjaTrader licences are machine-bound. A lifetime or leased licence allows a limited number of activations, and a VPS counts as a machine — so moving your setup across uses one of them.

That matters more than it sounds. If you later move between our cities, rebuild the machine, or take a bigger plan, that is another activation each time. NinjaTrader support will reset them, and they are reasonable about it, but it is a support ticket rather than a click.

The practical advice is to pick your location carefully the first time. Our broker pages carry the measured latency to each firm's servers, and we would rather you read those before ordering than move twice and spend an activation finding out.

Two gigabytes, and the charts decide the rest

NinjaTrader is a .NET application carrying a serious charting engine, and it sits at roughly double a MetaTrader terminal. Two gigabytes per instance is what we size on, and it is a working figure rather than a generous one.

What moves it is charts. A workspace with twenty charts, several indicators on each and a few days of tick data loaded will pass three gigabytes without doing anything unusual. If that describes your setup, take the plan above the one the arithmetic suggests.

Market data is a separate bill

NinjaTrader connects to a data feed, and for futures that feed is usually paid for separately — CME data through Rithmic or Kinetick is a monthly cost that has nothing to do with your broker or with us.

Worth saying because people occasionally arrive expecting the VPS to include it. It does not, and no host can: the exchanges licence that data directly.

NinjaScript is C#, which is the good news

Strategies and indicators are written in C# against a documented API, compiled by NinjaTrader itself. If you can program, it is a considerably better place to work than MQL — proper debugging, proper libraries, and code that other C# developers can read.

The trade is the same one cTrader makes: a much smaller market in ready-made strategies. If you were planning to buy rather than build, there is less to buy.

Before you spend anything.

The questions our support desk actually receives, answered plainly.

About two gigabytes per instance, Windows included — double what a MetaTrader terminal wants. A 4 GB plan runs two comfortably, 8 GB runs four. A chart-heavy workspace wants more again.
Yes. Licences are machine-bound and a VPS counts as a machine, so the move uses one of your activations. NinjaTrader support will reset them if you run out, but it is worth picking your location carefully the first time.
Yes. Count NinjaTrader as two and each MetaTrader terminal as one — so one NinjaTrader and two MT5 is four gigabytes.
No, and it cannot be. Futures data through Rithmic, Kinetick or CME is licensed directly by the exchange and billed separately. The VPS is the machine, not the feed.
It is already there on our images. NinjaTrader 8 needs it, which is part of why the platform holds more memory than a native application like MetaTrader.
The city closest to your data feed and broker, not to you. Chicago suits CME futures; our broker pages carry the measured figures. Choose carefully, because moving later costs an activation.
That is the reason most people rent one. The strategy runs on the VPS, which stays on whether your computer does or not — and NinjaTrader will restart with Windows if you set it to.

Still unsure which plan or which city? Send us your broker's account server name and we will measure it before you buy.
