How to Install MetaTrader 4 (MT4) & MetaTrader 5 (MT5) on VPS (Step-by-Step)

This guide explains how to install MT4 and MT5 on a Windows VPS properly for stable 24/7 trading.

1️⃣ Connect to Your VPS

On Windows:

  1. Press Windows + R
  2. Type mstsc → Press Enter
  3. Enter VPS IP Address
  4. Click Connect
  5. Enter Username & Password

On Mac:

  1. Install Microsoft Remote Desktop
  2. Add VPS IP
  3. Connect using credentials

2️⃣ Download MT4/MT5 Installer

Open browser inside VPS and download MT4/MT5 from your broker’s official website.

Always download from trusted broker source to avoid modified files.

3️⃣ Install MetaTrader 4 (MT4)

  1. Open downloaded file (mt4setup.exe)
  2. Click Next
  3. Accept License Agreement
  4. Click Install
  5. Finish installation

4️⃣ Install MetaTrader 5 (MT5)

  1. Open downloaded file (mt5setup.exe)
  2. Click Next
  3. Accept License
  4. Install
  5. Finish

5️⃣ Login to Your Trading Account

  1. Open MT4/MT5
  2. Click File → Login to Trade Account
  3. Enter Login ID
  4. Enter Password
  5. Select Broker Server

6️⃣ Enable Auto Trading

For MT4:

  1. Tools → Options → Expert Advisors
  2. Tick “Allow Automated Trading”
  3. Click AutoTrading (Turn Green)

For MT5:

  1. Tools → Options → Expert Advisors
  2. Enable Algorithmic Trading
  3. Click Algo Trading Button

7️⃣ Keep VPS Running 24/7

Do NOT shut down VPS. Simply close Remote Desktop window and select Disconnect.

8️⃣ Troubleshooting

MT4 Not Opening? Restart VPS or reinstall.

No Connection? Check broker server selection.

AutoTrading Not Working? Ensure it is enabled in settings.
