Jupyter VPS

Notebooks that keep running after you close the lid.

A long cell blocks the laptop it runs on. Move the kernel to a machine that stays awake and the notebook keeps computing while you shut the laptop and go home — the browser is only a window onto it.

See the plans Which distribution?

From $6.37/mo on a yearly cycle · 2 GB, where pandas stops swapping

Six sizes, and the dataframe picks the one you need.

Jupyter runs in a few hundred megabytes. What decides the plan is what you load into it — memory first, then cores for anything that parallelises.

Every plan here undercuts its Windows counterpart — because there is no Microsoft licence inside it. That is the whole difference: same hardware, same cities, same support.

12 distributions. Here is when each one is right.

Any of them, on any plan, reinstallable from your panel in about five minutes.

Install something

Order to root

Ninety seconds, and none of it waiting on us.

Nothing is approved by hand and nothing is queued. The only slow part is you deciding which city.

01 Order

Pick a size and a city

Two gigabytes is where pandas stops swapping on a modest dataset. Size on the data you load, not on Jupyter itself.

0:00
02 Key

Paste your public key

We never set a root password unless you ask. The key is safer and takes the same ten seconds.

0:01
03 Build

The machine builds itself

Ninety seconds on a KVM guest with its own kernel. Nothing to approve, nobody to wait for.

0:02
04 Install

pip install jupyterlab

Then either an SSH tunnel to port 8888, or nginx and certbot if you want it reachable from anywhere.

0:03

Nothing is preinstalled. A clean distribution and root is easier to trust, and easier to rebuild, than an image we have already changed.

In your panel, not in a ticket queue

Six tools you will use every week.

Buttons you press yourself, included on every plan — this one too. There are more than twenty in the panel; these are the ones that change the day.

The kernel outlives the tab

Close the browser, lose the wifi, open it on a phone. The kernel keeps its variables and the cell finishes regardless.

01

Memory that is not your laptop's

A dataframe that would swap on eight gigabytes of shared laptop memory has the machine to itself here.

02

Behind your own TLS

A subdomain, nginx in front of 8888 and certbot. Or an SSH tunnel and no public port at all, which is the safer default.

03

Any Python you like

System Python, a venv, conda, uv. Root means the interpreter is your decision rather than an image we picked.

04

Long jobs without a timeout

Nothing here kills a cell for running too long. The only limit is the machine and how long you leave it on.

05

Scheduled runs with papermill

Parameterise a notebook and run it from cron. The same machine that serves the editor executes the schedule.

06

Twenty more sit alongside them — reboots, graphs, hostname changes, Windows Update control, time zone sync. The cheapest machine has the same panel as the most expensive. See how each one works →

Before you spend anything.

The questions our support desk actually receives, answered plainly.

Jupyter itself is light. The dataframe decides it. A CSV loaded into pandas takes roughly five to ten times its file size in memory, so a 200 MB file wants two gigabytes of headroom before you start joining anything to it.
Not without TLS and a password. An SSH tunnel is the simpler answer for one person — no public port at all, and nothing to misconfigure. Put nginx and certbot in front only if several people need it.
Yes. The kernel runs on the machine, and the browser is only a view of it. That is most of the reason to run Jupyter on a server rather than a laptop.
Yes. Miniconda, Anaconda, uv or plain venv — all install normally because you have root. We do not pick the interpreter for you.
Not on these plans. These are CPU machines, which suits data work, pandas, scikit-learn and inference on small models. Ask us before you order if the workload needs CUDA.
No. You get a clean distribution with full root, and pip does the rest in one command. An unmodified system is easier to trust than one we have already changed.
Yes, once a month at no charge. Move it nearer the data source if you are pulling large files across the network.

Still unsure which plan or which city? Send us your broker's account server name and we will measure it before you buy.

Latency around LD4 and Amsterdam is excellent — orders feel instant. We moved four accounts across and none of them noticed a thing.

Clear pricing and low latency. Migration was seamless — they moved the whole thing over a weekend and the renewal price has not moved since.

The Amsterdam route feels snappy and support solved my request quickly. Four stars only because I would like a German node closer to my broker.
